On January 19, the China Award for Science and Technology in Construction Committee announced the winners of the 2021 "China Award for Science and Technology in Construction". The scientific research project Research on Key Technologies of Biosafety Building Protection and Creation of Standard Systems completed by eight units of CESE2, China Academy of Building Research, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment, etc. won the Grand Prize of 2021 "China Award for Science and Technology in Construction".

Announcement of the Awarded Projects

The China Award for Science and Technology in Construction is deliberated and established by the National Office for Science & Technology Awards, and is the most valuable social science and technology award in the housing and urban-rural construction industry in China, aiming to encourage scientific and technological innovation in the construction industry, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into productivity, and improve the comprehensive technical level of the industry.

Projects selected for this award shall reach the international advanced level, have relatively great technical difficulty and depth, play a significant role in enhancing the scientific and technological progress of the industry, and can achieve significant economic, social and environmental benefits.

The project "Research on Key Technologies of Biosafety Building Protection and Creation of Standard Systems" integrates multiple core technologies of all parties involved in this project, and the core technologies of the project involve the design, building, and core products and many other areas of high-level biosafety facilities. In the evaluation of this scientific and technological achievement, experts in the biosafety field, including Academician Xia Xianzhu, Academician Hou Lian, Researcher Song Guilan, Secretary Lu Jinxing, and Director Zhao Siqing all agreed that the research results of this project have generally reached the international leading level.

As a main completer of the project "Research on Key Technologies of Biosafety Building Protection and Creation of Standard Systems", CESE2 led the completion of the R&D of key construction technologies and the application of the technical results.

In the aspect of R&D of key construction technology

The company completed the R&D of key technologies such as the key technology for protection of color steel plate enclosure structure with high air tightness, key technology for protection of stainless steel plate seam welded enclosure structure, advanced biosafety laboratory ventilation system for biosafety cabinets, centralized treatment technology of laboratory high temperature inactivated wastewater, and hydrogen peroxide disinfection technology for long-distance pipeline transportation.

In the aspect of application of technical achievements

The company leads the implementation of high-level biosafety laboratories and COVID-19 vaccine biosafety risk workshops, and has successively participated in the construction of high-level biosafety laboratory projects of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes for Food and Drug Control, Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention, etc.

During the epidemic, the company has led and completed the construction of high-level biosafety risk workshops of the COVID-19 vaccine project of Sinovac Life Sciences Co., Ltd., the COVID-19 vaccine project of the Institute of Medical Biology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the COVID-19 vaccine project of Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products Co., Ltd., and the Rongan COVID-19 vaccine project of AIM Vaccine Co., Ltd.
